With the help of dedicated supporters, great sponsors and caring citizens, MWDTSA care packages are sent year around.

We try to do themed packages four times a year and then supplement as needed to support individual requests such as specific goodies, specific dog toy requests, dried fruits for “Special” teams etc. MWDTSA only sends quality items, first, because our teams deserve it and secondly, because the costs of shipping are too high to send something that will not be used.

The easiest and best way to get us the items that we most urgently need is by making a financial donation. If you happen to know of a good company that you believe might like to make a “Product in kind” donation, please contact us at info@mwdtsa.org. If you choose to shop and send items to us, here are items from the MWDTSA Wish List:

An Important Note:

Military Working Dogs have their own supplies of flea control and heart worm preventative. Medications, such as heartworm preventative, are prescribed, supplied and monitored carefully by the veterinary staff.

Also:

If you have any question about the suitability of an item to be donated, please contact us at info@mwdtsa.org before sending. Donations received that are not acceptable for Military Working Dogs will be forwarded to a suitable animal shelter or rescue group.

For dogs:These items are intended for hearty, active Military Working Dogs. Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd Dogs and Labrador Retrievers are the most common dogs selected for Military dogs.

From The MWDTSA President, Dixie Whitman:

People who support us like to know where their donations are going and what they are accomplishing when they partner with Military Working Dog Team Support Association, Inc. (MWDTSA). Here’s the good news – you are impacting dog teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

MWDTSA routinely sends care and comfort packages to deployed dog teams from all branches of service working in harm’s way. In general, we include items like KONG toys, grooming supplies, collapsible water bowls etc for the dogs and for the handlers, we include items like extra socks, T-shirts, treats, magazines.

We try our best to support special requests when they meet our missions. Here are some of the very special requests that we have supplied recently. An older dog working in an undisclosed location in a very sandy area was beginning to have issues with her feet, her KennelMaster felt that she was in need of special boots to help her remain comfortable in her work. Another dog handler wanted something special for his dog in terms of toys and asked if we could help out. One dog was having some bad breath issues and the handler was asking for something toy-wise to help with that. A group of handlers were returning from a deployment where MWDTSA had sent support of dog toys, care and comfort items to all of the handlers at this kennel. (Approximately 30) In the waning days of their deployment, they lost a handler to hostile fire. As the remainder of the unit rotated home, they prepared a Memorial Service for their fallen comrade and asked if we would attend and if we could help with an oak box to display the American Flag flown at the service. Sadly, we were not able to be there, but know that the ceremony to remember their friend was a helpful, healing event and were delighted to be able to support them in their remembrance.

You make a difference every time you support us with a donation, a purchase, by volunteering or by passing the word. Thank you so much to all of our supporters on behalf of the brave men and bravest of women who work with America’s amazing military working dogs.
