SGT Beltowski of the 1-2 AVN Regiment contacted us to let us know of the tragic loss of Apache, the 1-2 AVN mascot, in an accident. SGT Beltowski shares that Apache was much loved by the Soldiers who he was sent to support. As a mascot, his job was to simply be loved upon by everyone who was within arm's reach and in harm's way. SGT Beltowski advises that Apache was an official military dog, but she lovingly describes him not as an MWD (Military Working Dog), but more as an MLD (Military Lazy Dog).
She would like to establish a Memorial for Apache where those who knew this happy and endearing mascot could send a donation to support his "harder working" fellow MWDS. We are honored that she has chosen our organization as the conduit for these donations. Rest assured your donations will be used to support MWDs in harm's way.
If you would like to make a donation in memory of Apache, please click on the "Make a Donation" button. This will take you to our PayPal site. Simply include the description "In Memory of Apache" under the description and send whatever amount via PayPal that you feel comfortable sending. As an alternate, any donations that you would like to send by check should be made payable to "MWDTSA" and sent to our post office box: P. O. Box 5864, Canton, GA 30114.
"When I see that beautiful face and amazing soul, I am sure Apache is running free in the fields beyond Rainbow Bridge, perhaps flushing a pheasant or two. I hope that those who loved this great dog find some joy in those images. God bless you all. Stay safe."
